The Kennedy memorial albums have got to be the most common overpriced records out there. And they're always NM, often unopened, because nobody really wants to listen to a bunch of speeches. Very Happy

According to a book I have, ...A Memorial Album was the 10th best selling album of the 60s.

Does anyone know if these were ever released on CD?? I'm asking because the last thing my teen studied in American History last year was events thru the 70's. She became fascinated with Kennedy. She almost did her presentation on his assassination but she picked Woodstock instead.

Wouldn't these speeches be a good historical reference/learning tool? I remember listening to those records "You Are There" when I was in school. I think they were narrated by Walter Cronkite? I enjoyed them alot. Actually I would like to find all of those now that I think about it. I would definitely play them for my kids.

Those of us that weren't around might get more out of those speeches that those of you that witnessed the events first hand. It's history...and listening to stuff like that kinda makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck. Just thinking about how things were back then and what could have been.

BTW...are any of MLK Jr's speeches on vinyl? I love the sound of his voice, not to mention his message.

I pass up these records at just about every town in the USA. I have seen at least 5 of them on this trip.

I have not seen His Last 24 Hours, though. It was probably stuck to the back of a Humperdink or Herb Alpert!

I sold a record recently which had MLK speaking on it (well, I assume it did, I didn't listen to it) - March on Washington Official Album. Record featuring speeches by the ten leaders heard at the Lincoln Memorial, August 28, 1963, including A. Philip Randolph, Dr. Eugene Carson Blake, John Lewis, Walter P. Reuther, Floyd McKissick for James Farmer, Matthew Ahmann, Whitney M. Young, Jr, Roy Wilkins, Dr. Joachim Prinz, and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

I bought another one with the famous speach of JFK in Berlin "Ich bin ein Berliner" recently! It's history, and it's something regarding my home town. I guess, I become a little nostalgic on my ol' days. I don't think that it's of much monetary value!
    Embarassed very happy
