A question probably for vinyl1, though anyone can answer. Was the big deal here

mainly the Urania and Choral Symphony LPs, or was there something else stuck in there?

As you may know, the Urania Beethoven 3rd was withdrawn when Furtwangler sued, so it is rare, and goes for high prices. Nowadays it usually gets $400-600, but I have seen as high as a $1000.

A good first pressing of the Beethoven 9th on UK ALP can go for $400-600 I also see some other early EMI, the Beethoven 3rd, 5th, and 6th and one other one which might be worth $75-150 if good early UK pressings, and te DG Beethoven 5th which goes for $50-100.

The 70s Bruno Walter Society and other private records usually only go for $10-15, and the 70s EMIS are worth very little, maybe $5-10.

So I rate the whole collection at a fair retail of abut $1500, assuming there are no records I can't see. The high bidders probably asked for lists, labels, condition, and country of pressing. Maybe there was an unusual one, like an Austrian VALP pressing or something.

Maybe the Urania is worth more than I thought:

Nah, that was the reserve the seller put on it and there was only one bidder, who just hammered away until he hit it. A good break for the seller, but an anomaly. I'd think. On any given week it might have sat there unsold.

I apparently put up that auction thinking it was over, when it was not. The actual final sale price was $1,691.

I don't think the seller would complain about that, some copies have gone for much less.
