What do you mean "professional" like they have some sort of licesence? I would say find someone on ebay[or anywhere you can determine feedback] who clearly sells alot of records that has alot of positive feedback clearly stating they know what they are doing and you've found your man. There are alot of bubbleheads in the "record game", if anyone starts going round claiming to be an emperorer, they probably aren't!! Very Happy

I think he means like with sports cards, where a grade is assigned and the card encased in plastic. So, from that point of view, no,there's nothing like that with records. And there couldn't be, in my opinion, there's too much subjectivity with record grading; a record may visually grade one way and have a different audio grade. Or it may have a flaw that doesn't affect the grade for some collectors the way it does for others.

right,i meant like the sportscard companies. short of this, are there appraisers where you can send them the records, and they`ll grade them for a fee? i`ve seen online graders where they grade the records without physically having them to grade

Shocked Shocked Shocked

I wouldn't hire that person OR buy any of his/her records. Don't waste your money, IMO.

I, too, have no idea how someone could grade a record without "physically" touching it/looking at it/playing it! Such "grading" could only be totally subjective and most likely inaccurate.

I've graded thousands upon thousands of records in my life. Ship 'em to me and I'll grade 'em--$3 a pop. Very Happy

Seriously though Greg, NM is NM and there should be very little question about it. VG+ is almost NM and most everything below that is a $1-3 record at best. So a thorough description when selling will work fine for most buyers. The only time I can see where it would be worth hunting down someone else to grade is if it's a very desirable record where the difference can be a hundred dollars or more.

Perfectly stated, imho.
