Has anyone looked at GOLDMINE 4th and 5th editions side-by-side?

Wonder if it reflects ebay craze on vinyl or what? Any insight into this new edition would be greatly appreciated. I guess I'll get it someday.

I just ordered the most recent The Official Price Guide to Records 18th edition by Osborn instead of Neely's 5th edition GOLDMINE.

I've got the CD for Goldmine's Standard Catalog of American Records 1950-1975, 6th Edition (2008). It's almost 1400 pages and I've found it has the same deficiencies (mostly omissions) that all Goldmine catalogs have. I've written a poem about it:

No Magic Sam, no Tommy Lam
Who gives a damn.

I think the two of you together should be the next Poet Laureate of the US of A.

I think anyone who wants to ascertain some estimate of "price" needs to check guides that target to the sound or genre of the record at hand.
So, if you have a rockabilly disc, you should check Lincoln & Blackburn's Rockabilly Price Guide.
Northern Soul - Manship as well as Brown & Koppel's (2nd edition recently out) books.
Garage/Psych/Obscure 60s: Wickham & Richman's just released book.
Not sure if there is a recent 50s / doo-wop book, or blues.
Generally speaking, the above four examples are more in line with prices than any Goldmine guide.
Osborne can be consulted as a back-up just to compare, but they seem to take the highest price paid from on-line auctions and list it as the price.

Yeah, I'd be interested in any sort of blues guide, if there even is one.

Try the Fosman guide.

I've bought 45s from this fella and he is really a top seller, completely fair and a gentleman to boot.
