I was just given a collection of Pietro Mascagni "L'Amico Fritz" Opera in 3 Acts. I can not find anything about it but would like to know if anyone knows anything! They are obviously first presses and seem to be from 1941-ish. Its also with Pia Tassinari and Ferruccio Tagliavini. ANY info would be great!

Aw come on guy. You didn't try very hard.

http://www.mascagni.org/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pietro_Mascagni

Author: Alan Mallach
Title: Pietro Mascagni and His Operas
Editor: Northeastern University Press
Place and Date: Boston, June 2002
Page Count: 378 pages
ISBN: 1-55553-524-0
Language: English
Notes: Hardcover

None of Mascagni's other operas really resembles Cavalleria rusticana. As a matter of fact, Mascagni's operas are all very different from each other, even though they all share a very distinctive style unique to Mascagni's music.

Mascagni.org recommends L'amico Fritz and Iris first, because they are very accessible operas, of excellent musical quality and reputation, and very good recordings of both are available (see here and here for L'amico Fritz and here for Iris).

And there is a lot more if this isn't enough to get you started.
