Were you at Woodstock & any memories you care to share ? And who put played the best set?

Unfortunately, I wasn't there -- I was 2 at the time.
But, listening/watching the movie I'd have to say I love Santana's set.

My "memory of Woodstock" consists of being driven, by my Dad and with two friends, from Long Island into the New York City to see the movie; it was a 13th birthday present from my Dad . It was the first time we'd ever seen a movie admission be $5.00 (they were usually $3.00 or $3.50). Naturally my Dad sat somewhere else, and apparently left the theater in disgust when John Sebastian announced "This is a real mindf***er, man!" (pretty sure he went somewhere to get a scotch on the rocks). At the time, my friends and I were most excited about Ten Years After and Jimi Hendrix (and in that order!). In retrospect I've gotta say that the Who's performance is quite amazing - and I still like Jimi's (love how he's working the fretboard when suddenly his thumb comes over the top of the neck and gets into the act too - shades of Robert Johnson!).

Didn't quite make it to Woodstock. We were heading to New York when
we heard on the radio that the NY thru-way was backed up 25 miles
so we turned back. Good thing we never got there, I would've gone
nuts sitting in the rain and mud, and not being able to leave.

Made it to Strawberry Fields in Canada. The concert was good??? The only thing
I really remember was a "drop dead gorgeous naked blonde" walking around
selling dope. We spent most of our money with her...........LOL

As I've stated in other posts I really liked Santana and Sly stone when they
performed. Maybe because it was a different genre' of music.

Gotta love the sixties.

FELLOW GUILDERS

I was invirted to go to the "Woodtsock thing" by the most desirable woman who worked on public sqaue in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. My my my. She was a vision. But one of my cowrokers got sick and my boss, Leo Matus, owner of the redoubtable Leo Matus' Newsstand (a veritable cornerstone of social life for the less desirable elements of W-B, including us "hippies"), offered me double-time to NOT GO AND WORK THE WEEKEND INSTEAD. Guess what the idjit child Neal opted for?

NEAL

PS: The desirable one never spoke to me again. . .

PS2: A fellow hippie went and brought back the rock that he had to move to claim his spot. His "Woodstock rock" took a place of honor on his mantle, where it rested until the Great Flood of '72 wiped out his place. . .
