Can the by name post search be activated. This (to me) is a very important and useful function.

Anthony, maybe I don't understand you correctly?

But, the Search Query allows you to search posts or topics by member's name. It has a place for "Search for Author:".

Also, if you go to a member's profile and click on Find all posts by Member's Name it will bring up all of that member's posts.

I too wish the search function was more customizable. It would be nice to search by member name for topics started by them, and to divide this by section as well. For example, to be able to see every topic Cactus Cowboy started in the Record Cover Gallery would mean I could see every cover he posted himself, but instead I will end up with every post he made in that section, and he has made a lot of comments on other's covers.

Closest thing I came up with Chad using your example, every topic Cactus Cowboy started in the Record Cover Gallery, in a search is this:

http://www.recordcollectorsguild.org/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=search&search_id=5481067&start=175

Where the Search Query gives you a choice of "Sort By" I choose "Author".

You have to be logged in to view these pages cause searches only work when you are logged in.

Hey what happened? That link showed every topic Cactus Cowboy started in the Record Cover Gallery. Now I get "No topics or posts met your search criteria". Confused

Test: http://www.recordcollectorsguild.org/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=search&search_id=5481067&start=175

Results: Showed CC topics in the Record Cover Gallery.

What? Is there a time limit on search results being viewed?

Forum searches can be further narrowed by forum and/or category, using the drop-down lists on the left side of the search page.

I get that message when [1] the topics have been marked "read" or [2] the particular thread has been updated by a new post.
