I've looked around the web and haved failed at finding any info on such a beast as a Black Sabbath self-titled release on the green Warner-Seven Arts label. I found a recent eBay auction for one, the seller claimed it was one of three known copies!(?)
Anyone know the scoop about this? I've always been under the impression that first US pressings of that title were on the green WB label...
Thanks! |

As far as I know, they were originally on the green label with the WB logo, not the 7-Arts label, which preceded it. Warner Bros had already made the switch to this label by late 1969. Now, it's very possible that there may be a record club pressing on this label as they were a bit slower in changing labels. I've seen that happen already. But I've never seen a stock copy on the 7 Arts label. |

| Hadn't considered a record club pressing...buddy of mine has one of these which prompted my search in the first place. Aside from the label, the only difference between his and mine (I have a wlp and a green label WB) is that the matrix numbers are machine stamped on his, both of my disks have etched matrix numbers. Catalog numbers are the same (that's what is stamped in the dead wax on his), covers are identical (maybe his was switched out at some point, don't know) pretty much no indication that it came from a record club. Maybe a fan club pressing? Counterfeit perhaps? I thought maybe it was something intended for export, but no indication of that either. Hmmm... |

| It's likely a record club pressing, but it could also be a case of a factory running out of the regular labels, and finding some unused WB-7 Arts labels in stock.-Remember Warners never had their own pressing plants, they always sub-contracted. |
