I would open, listen and enjoy.
Ihave some very expensive bottles of wine. When my son comes to visit I open the wine, put on some vinyl and enjoy. We are not stamp collectors. |

::: I read somewhere that Jack white is himself a Record Collector...and he got really expensive and rare records from country stuff...I bet he likes to listen to vynil records, I can almost imagine the hardware he owns to simply put the needle on the records!
What about that legend of the 45 rpm single he stuck in a chair?? has anyone find it yet?? |

Personally, I'd open them and enjoy the music.
OTOH, if I needed the cash, I'd sell them and buy reissues.
Those would be both of my suggestions. I've never sold any records on ebay, and I've only traded one (and what a great trade it was with SID, got some great music, and I had a second copy of the record I traded so I didn't lose the music forever).
Especially if you have a kick ass stereo, bust them out man! |

I opened them! Along with almost every single record I bought new about 5 years ago, probablly opened about 70ish records over the time of a month.
I had a feeling this would lead to more people saying to open them than not. |

I love the White Stripes but I was fanatical about the Smashing Pumpkins in the 90's. What I did when the Pump's were releasing albums was I bought both LP's and CD's. I kept the LP's sealed and listened to the CD's. Now that the Stripes original vinyl is expensive, unless you really need the money, I'd just go buy CD's. But I rarely buy new vinyl. For newer bands I like, I typically just get the CD.
Amen, Listen to your CD's...Cherish your vinyl!
Also, the Pumpkins 90's catalog is what got me into vinyl collecting I still need that darn P. Iscariot vinyl though |
