hi, I want buy Stand from the family http://www.amazon.com/Stand-Vinyl-Sly-Family-Stone/dp/B00133KHFQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1276306511&sr=1-1

Sundazed are reissue, so simple question:

this sound better or the same than original? or the original 70s sound better?

ps: I cant find a section on this forum for a question like that about the new reissues and talk about the sound between versions... an audiophile section... you know

Sundazed has a very good reputation for putting out quality reissues, however I don't have any experience with that album, but I'd imagine debating which pressing is better would come down to splitting hairs or simple personal preference.

As for which section this should be in..."Questions & Answers" is a good catch-all, but probably "R&B" or "Rock & Roll" is best depending on how you'd genre-ize Sly & Family and if you just want to know about the different pressings. "Your Wants" would also work if you want to see if anyone here has a copy for you to buy or trade for, but this section (Records) is just for selling items. Just peruse the site a bit, it's a little confusing at first but you'll get the hang of it.

I have the original "Stand" in NM condtion so I have no need of the reissue.

However, I do own a number of Sundazed reissues and have never been unhappy with them. I wouldn't hesitate to order any Sundazed reissue of an album I wanted.

Keep in mind that "Stand" was a typical Rock LP recorded over 30 years ago and was never intended to be "audiophile" quality.

thanks cactus:

why you say: I wouldn't hesitate to order any Sundazed reissue of an album I wanted.
beacuse all sundanzed reissues are really good? dont loose in sound?

see this comparation too with spectral view, I ask to a "online friend" that know a lot about sly...:

Sorry i don't own them in vinyl, but i have 24bit/96kHz needledrops from Stand (1st press original vinyl) and "There's A Riot..." (Sundazed). They both sound nice, but if comparing them by spectrum, Sundazed pressing of "Riot" has a limited Spectrum width to approx 20kHz while the original "Stand" sounds in full 48kHz spectrum. So either Sundazed filtered the sound either the album was recorded in different technique than in "Stand".

There's Riot (Sundazed)

What your "online friend" is doing and trying to prove raises more questions than it answers.

It's generally accepted that the maximum range of human hearing is 20-20,000 Hz in a healthy young person. As an old fogey, I probably cannot hear anything above 14,000 Hz, so I suppose the Sundazed pressing with its "limited Spectrum width" would sound fine to me, as well as anyone with excellent hearing.
