A very underrated and forgotten major hit from 1962. A number one record in New York and I'm sure many other major U.S. centers. Dee Dee Sharp delivers a great vocal with a fine arrangement. It has a very similar sound to "Please Mr. Postman" and "The Locomotion" although it came after the former but before the latter. I've never cared much for "The Locomotion" because it always seemed like a kind of copy cat record despite it's legendary status and several remakes. Cameo/Parkway made some good records but I can't think of one better than this. It's just a solid hunk of early 1960's black music. This was her biggest hit even though she was still recording at least into the latter 1970's.
