I have been using Cool Edit Pro since the beginning...works perfect and there are so many options!
I don't use a USB turntable, I just link the OUTPUT from my cassette player to my PC.
Simply push RECORD and PAUZE on the Cassette player, start to RECORD the LP, and the OUTPUT of the CP right
into Cool Edit PRO to make a WAV. Works beautifull in my honest opinion.

No need to apologize, we're always happy to have new members here, and your first post is a good one, relating your positive experience with Cool Edit Pro.

A month ago, I purchased a portable radio that can also play MP3's via an SD card or flash drive. The downside to this specific radio is the limitation of 99 tracks...

But not to worry - I use Audacity to combine all tracks from 1 album to make a master track (I listen to full albums anyway). This way I can now get up to 99 ALBUMS on an SD card (depending on size).

I have also just completed converting my cassette collection into MP3 format. Just run a cord from the tape player to the turntable and run Audacity. 1 track per side. Then I crop the extra dead air at the beginning and end of each file and then combine into 1 and save.
