I have had it with ebay sellers that have no brains or ethics whatsoever, so I'm gonna start posting warnings here from now on.

Bought a "VG+" lp from rockstarsvinyl. Received it, and was amazed at all of the scuffs and scratches on there. VG at best, much more realistically a VG-.

Waiting for the okay to send it back for a refund. Is there a way to set up your ebay profile so that results from blocked sellers won't show up when you do a search? It's getting to the point where I can't remember all of the idiots that I've had to demand a refund from.

"Hypnotic Music" by Harrison Kennedy. I heard a track from the album a couple of weeks ago and really dug it. I then made the mistake of looking it up on ebay to see if any were for sale. This guy was selling a test pressing for $2.00, supposedly in Very Good Plus condition.

Against my better judgment, I bid, won, and received a record with some really ugly scuffs and scratches. I have really got to learn to not buy any records via ebay from so called dealers.

Sorry to hear about that mackdaddyg, do you have a link? I tried http://www.ebay.com/usr/rockstarsvinyl but I get "user id error"

At one point I started compiling a list of sellers I would avoid because I got bad experiences after purchasing items that were mis graded but I gave up, pretty much stopped buying on ebay altogether. I can post the sellers that in my opinion and experience don't grade accurately if you want

Hey alfeizar,

Here's a link to their feedback page (I think it will work):

http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=rockstarvinyls&&_trksid=p2047675.l2560&rt=nc&iid=331009051417&sspagename=VIP:feedback&ftab=FeedbackAsSeller

They had a few negatives but a lot of positives, so I took a chance. I'm really starting to think that most people who buy stuff on ebay don't know what they're doing either. I don't mean that in a snotty way. I certainly understand a mistake being made once in a while, but this one was so bad, I really don't think they know how to grade, and a lot of their positive feedback is based simply on getting a record that was ordered.

A list of bad sellers is not a bad idea, if you want to go to the trouble. I might try to go back and add the handful that I've dealt with over the past year or so.

Thanks for the kind words.

Thanks for the link, I agree that the feedback system is not really useful to know if a seller is grading accurately or not, imagine that for me its even worse because shipping is quite expensive for overseas sales and when I receive something that isn't as described its not easy to return it either. I just moved on and very seldom buy there. Many of the sellers that I added to my list had very good reputations, I guess the difference is not how wall they grade but how quick they try to resolve an issue with a costumer so as to avoid the negative feedback.

I'll post a few of the sellers that I don't buy from anymore because of misgraded records or extremely bad packaging. I don't want this to be missunderstood, the fact that I purchased items that in my opinion were not as described doesn't mean anything more than that, it might have been a exception, bad luck, or just water under the bridge. Also I contacted some of them regarding the problems and they were very helpful but still I wouldn't buy again.

Also most times it take a bit more than 45 days for a package to get to my place leaving feedback is not an option. A couple friends also shared experiences with a couple of them and added others:

If there is a way to do it easily (so that you won't see their items no matter what you search), I haven't found it. You can filter out unwanted sellers using the advanced search though (shame you can't just mark off a seller to never show up when you search for anything). It's in the sellers section, you check "only show items from" and change the dropdown menu to exclude, then enter the username(s). If you have some default searches that you have bookmarked (how I normally browse when I'm just looking for random stuff, not a specific item) you can incorporate that easily.

Thanks Chad. That's very useful info. I'll look into doing that.
