(edited my post after realizing my last one was lame)

I just acquired a bunch of records and am slowly looking them up on Ebay to figure out what they are worth. I came across this one and someone is selling it on Ebay for $280. Is that price accurate?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/320922365065

Mine's the same one that's in that auction. Thank you!

Welcome to the RCG. You came to the right place to learn more about records.

You might start by visiting the RCG home page. There you'll find articles about records and on the left side of the page, "Record Tips." In particular, study "Grading", as condition has a huge impact on potential value.

You can list records for sale in the "Records" forum, a free service with no listing fees. Include artist, title, label & cat. no., condition of vinyl/cover and desired price.

Feel free to ask questions and we'll try to help.

Thank you for the reply! I'll probably end up selling some records here hopefully. I have a lot of them and have no idea about any of them. I hope to find them some good homes, if anyone wants them of course. I could be sitting on a bunch of junk. Razz

In response to your edited posting...

That Ebay auction is a "Buy It Now" asking price. The seller can ask anything they want, but it's not necessarily realistic or indicative of true market value, which is based on what someone will actually pay. Assuming the record in the Ebay auction is a 'high dollar collectible', there are probably key factors that make it so, such as a U.K. pressing, an early or original pressing as indicated by matrix number or low stamper numbers, rarity, etc... A USA pressing or later reissue may have much lower potential resale value.

I have one sale of LL-1637 on my spreadsheets, from nearly 10 years ago. A VG++ copy sold for $21.50 That would be about my estimate for this LP, about $15-25 at most. Backhaus is not that collectible, and serious collectors would prefer the Decca original, LXT-5308.
