As we continue...

Please note:
As under the " DETROIT-B-2 " Listing the " BOO " label was omitted, because although several sources had it as a Detroit-based label, owner Ric ( sic ) Williams indicates it was a Chicago-based imprint.

In addition, although there may have been other like-named imprints elsewhere in the USA ( as is often the case ) all of the imprints listed through-out this thread have been confirmed as Detroit-based labels from the 1950's onward...

Notes: Like Harry Balk, Ollie McGlaughlin is / was one of the best-known Detroit-based record men of all, with many of his imprints so-named for family members.
Mister McGlaughlin and staff, produced a large number of hits which were mostly leased or sold to larger labels such as ATLANTIC / ATCO

Of the numerous acts on his CARLA imprint, the stand-out record is by the great Deon Jackson from 1966 with " Love Makes The World Go ' Round " ( CARLA 2526 later leased to ATCO )

In addition, Mister McGlaughlin " discovered " other great acts such as Barbara Lewis ( who first recorded in Chicago in 1961 )
Ms. Lewis had five Top-40 hits from 1963-166 (some leased to ATLANTIC )
Her smash " Hello Stranger " had backing from none-other-than The Dells.

Mister McGlaughlin's labels also had the Ad Libs ( of Red Bird / Blue Cat fame in 1965 ) and The Volumes ( who had a national charter for Detroit-based CHEX Records in 1962 ) among the large roster of multi-label recording acts associated with him.

Next: " DETROIT-C-2

Thank you.
