. . . Vinyl, I have nothing of the band though I do like their sound.
[I have had a few CD's in the past]

I want something that is a bit special to start a small collection and
was thinking of aiming for 12" singles but I really dont know where to start.

any Cult aficionados out there who could offer some steerage?

Alan, I have several of their albums but only one or 2 twelve-inch singles. I thought the Fire Woman 12-incher with the extended mix was terrific.

Their old 12" EPs/Maxis on Beggars Banquet all have one or two non-lp tracks or alternate versions or live cuts. I made a run on them years ago, and found a few b-side gems in there.

They also did a big series of CD EPs in the early 90s (I think) full of alternate mixes and live tracks, if you're a completist sort of fellow.
