The big news about the BRC show is that we have a NEW LOCATION at the Civic Center in GARDENDALE, AL. Gardendale is a suburb of Birmingham, just a few miles north on I-65. Dates are SAT/SUN AUG 16/17. 90+ tables of vinyl in all formats, CDs, DVDs, memorabilia--probably even some cassettes and 8 tracks. Check www.birminghamrecord or Facebook for info on times and motels.

Barbara Wyrick is maybe not name you know unless you always read the songwriter credits on a 45 or the liner notes on an LP or CD. Barbara walked into FAME studios when she was a teenager and sold a song to Rick Hall. Then she went back to high school. But that was the beginning of a career that would help to define the FAME Muscle Shoals sound and establish her as a songwriter that could write a #1 hit. Candi Staton, Lynn Anderson, Donnie Osmond, Sami Jo, The Supremes, Memphis soul singer Sandra Wright, R&B group Hot, Bettye LaVette, John Conlee and none other than the Godfather of Soul James Brown would record Barbara Wyrick songs. Barbara Wyrick will join Clarence "Junior" Lewis as 2nd inductee of the 2014 class of the BRC Hall of Fame. She will be with us on Sunday August 17 at 2 pm.

We had great success at our new location at the Gardendale Civic Center. Our loyal customers showed up just as we expected, but we had many new customers that found out about us through Facebook, old school newspaper stories and ads, al.com, Craigslist, flyers picked up at local record stores and forums such as this one. Our Hall of Fame inductees clearly enjoyed themselves. We probably got a bump from the cancellation of the Austin, TX show later this fall. The 3rd weekend in August is the Birmingham Record Collectors Show. Put it on your list for next year!
