These were not just done on Red. There were also blue, yellow, green and purple wax releases. I also have a green wax Peaches and Herb on the Date subsidiary.

I also have a weird Epic red wax issue with the Hollies on one side and the Tremeloes on the flip. It also came with a picture sleeve. Between the good (Dylan's, Byrds) and the bad ( Jerry Reed, Billy Walker) I have about 40 of these.

In the mid 70s a thrift store in El Cajon Calif got a donation of nearly 50,000 Columbia wlp 45s from this period. From what I was told, there were new unplayed 25 count boxes of the Dylans, Byrds, etc, along with thousands of not so good colored waxes such as Patti Page, Bobby Vinton, Steve Lawrence, Amadeo and his Indian harps, Andy Williams, Jerry Reed, Flatt and Scruggs, etc.

A lot of these also had special promo sleeves.

And let's not forget that a few years earlier, Warner Bros issued some gold wax promos with special promo sleeves. Most notably the Everlies.

Hi Record Fan,

Thanks for the knowledgeable post. Can you list some of the other colors releases? I'm interested in the ones that were in the Columbia "family." That Peaches & Herb sounds interesting and green wax fits them since the Date label used green script.

Thanks,
JoeG
