How about adding a section to the links page for links to artist and label discographies? I'm talking about really good, helpful, detailed sites like the ones below. If we do this, let's make a concerted effort to get the word out to all the members about it so members will submit links to their favorite sites. I think this would make research on record pressings and label varieties much easier for people than if they had to go to Google, etc.

However we end up doing it I think it may be easier to put a description of the link posted in the subject line i.e. "Pink Floyd Discography". I've seen several in the various genre or artist forums but the can be so buried within the thread that they can be hard to find.

I'm saying we should put them on the links page (accessible from the home page), not in the forums. They'd be too hard to find in the forums.

(Spell chek doesn't work on the Mac, does it?) Sad

(If it makes you feel any better, I just got SP2 for Windows xp. Lots of things don't work for me now.)

Here's a really cool discography site I just found. It focuses mainly on prog rock, but also has many other artists like Devo and Eric Clapton. Catalog numbers and differences between versions from various countries are noted.

I think thats a fantastic idea. I spend so much time putting band collections together and finding decent discographies for the more obscure bands is often a nightmare and also very often incomplete.

The so called prolific records which are often not listed because of low price (I realise this is not a pure discography but its the best you can find lists sometimes) are not to be fond anywhere. Just cos a band is not collectable, the price is low and a release often goes unnoticed!

Not a discography so much as everything you would ever want to know about Metallica records from the for-most expert on the topic! (Hector!!)
