The manager of a local thrift called to say she had just got a donation of records in: "Jazz 78s, Stan Getz, etc..." She held them in her office til I got there. At a buck apiece, how could I refuse? The Eddie Heywood "88" album are 12" shellac discs, the other albums 10" shellac. All in beautiful condition. Not shown, but another from the same batch was Yonder Mountain String Band "The Show", a 2009 two-LP 180 gram Bluegrass release. As Shane would say, I am "chuffed." Smile

Cool Coleman Hawkins Cactus. I have a couple of Coleman cd's and an awesome Coleman 45. Great player.

Hi all: Newbie member to the RCG - using the guild's std's and working our way thru a large collection - IDing, cleaning, checking condition, pricing, logging, preparing to sell. Many pre-date Jazz, as with Peerless Quartette vg to vg+ / no cover on Columbia A2306, dated 1917. I haven't found much to compare with on popsike, discog, ebay; probably looking in the wrong spots?

Just cleaned and logged in a Hawkins-Webster-Auld vg / no cover 10" on Apollo - Masterworks in Jazz R1017 (754), 1944. Can't spot a thing on-line. Clues Question

Hmmm...Bean had an Apollo release in 51 (I think), and Auld had one in 52.

"Pick Up Boys" is a great number. There's at least two label variations that I know of, one is the gold on maroon "Masterworks In Jazz" Label with Apollo's head and the other is a plain gold on maroon label without Apollo's head. I don't know which came first, but I could make a guess.

as for the "value", It's In The Grooves. Listen to it.

One of my latest purchase during my Copenhagen visit last week:

'Same Girl' - Youn Sun Nah (DE ACT 9024-1, 2014) 180g high fidelity pressing with download voucher. (originally issued 2010, cd only I guess)

Great jazz/rock crossover with remarkable female vocals. Highly recommended!
