A few recent postings suggested that there may be different reasons that we all would consider ourselves "record collectors". It would be nice if the poll format could be multiple choice, or "on a scale of 1 - 10", but here goes.

The album covers get my attention - love the artwork. BUT, I love listening to artists or albums from 30-40 years ago that I may have never heard of. The buzz I get is like discovering gold. No obsessive compulsive behavior, just a casual hobby.

I picked "Other". I'm an obsessive-completist who loves listening to records.

I chose music, because that is the primary reason, but I think I fall in the category of all of the above

Music, Music, Music, Music.

And the preference of the format.

One reason I was curious about seeing the mix here is that my wife collects various types of pottery, vintage collectables, etc and rarely actually uses any of them. She puts them on the shelf and looks at them - or sells them off in her shop or ebay when she tires of them, or wants to skim off the equity. Smile I'm glad us record collectors actually appreciate the original intent of the item we are collecting.

Had to go with "other" as more than one response applied. First I collect those I really enjoy listening to and are my main collection, however, I also collect others I can take or leave, but believe others will like to sell and make a little money on the side.

(WOW.....one heck of a sentence!) Laughing

The physical beauty of the record as tactile artifact...I can't even really articulate it...
