What kind of brush and cleaning fluid are you using?

I am having problems with the MoFi cleaning solution. Not the Deep Cleaner but the normal one forget what they call it. First, its not getting the fingerprints off and its leaving wet splotches after vaccuming.

Try some homebrew. 20-25% isopropyl alcohol, the rest distilled water, and a few drops (per gallon) of Dawn dishwashing liquid or photoflo. I've never had any problems with fingerprints. I've had some sticky deposits on some records that took multiple cleanings to remove though. If you're using a Nitty Gritty, you may have to do some manual cleaning off the NG, while supporting the record.

I use a homemade wet/vac record cleaning machine. Take a look at photos and description on this thread:

I use a device called a Label Saver which is 2 circular pieces of clear plastic (holes in the center where a threaded rod passes thru with handles on each end). There is a groove machined in each side of each plastic disc where rubber o-rings sit to seal off the label. After the wash and rinse I use a regular vacum cleaner (with a soft brush attachement) that is vented outside with the clothes dryer vent.

A Monks - but it's difficult to justify the cost for the average collector.

I use the basic Nitty Gritty that does a fairly decent job. The record shop that I frequent uses the VPI and there's no comparison. I'd spring for the VPI if I have the dough. I'd have to stop buying vinyl for a few months and that'll never happen.

I use a VPI 16.5, which I bought new about 10 years ago. My actual record cleaning is done with the Disc Doctor cleaning systems, I just use the machine to vacuum off the fluid.

I recomend both the VPI and the Disc Doctor brushes and fluid.

The cleaning device I have is my hands (plus some diapers); 99% of the records that I clean are 45s, and I know it's easier to do them by hand and suspect they wind up just as clean as by machine.
