Post subject: FAQ: The Who "Live at Leeds" with contracts  PostPosted: Feb 22, 2003 - 06:42 PM
Former Member

I have this album: It contains a contract for woodstock 19 69 ,and other papers. I have had this album since I was 13. I opened it a few months back...There is only one album recored in Germany in 1964;It has never been played(My Generation). The words to the song is typed on a piece of paper ,with instructions on how to play. I assume these are all originals.
I was wondering what these items would be worth if I decided to sell?

I'm a bit confused by your post, but it sounds like you're asking about 2 different records. Live at Leeds was released in 1970 and all original pressings had the paperwork you mentioned. It looks authentic but trust me, they all had that--it was part of the package. Still, the whole thing is worth $30-$40 (US) retail in Near Mint condition.
Now you also mentioned My Generation which was the Who's first LP released in 1966. Is this a separate album you have or was this record in with the Leeds album? As a complete album, the original pressing of My Generation is $50-$100 (US) retail in Near Mint, Mono and $40-$60 stereo. These are possible dealer prices--for the actual price these are selling at, check www.gemm.com www.musicstack.com and www.ebay.com

The words to My Generation was one of the inserts included - in all of them.

Jack,

these words are also printed on one of the goodiesthat come with this album - so basically what we have here is a complete set of the Who Live at Leeds..

Reissues from any country did not come with the inserts. That includes
the japanese pressings which are famous for their exact replication.
I do not know of a 1964 Live recording with inserts. The Decca
Live at Leeds was released in 1970 with + or - eleven inserts - I don't
remember. To have an unopened original with inserts from any country is a nice find. Has anybody ever seen a promo label on this?

As with most Lp's of this time, promo copies do exist, but I've never seen anything but a pic of one. Should have saved it. But if anybody ever comes across a copy and wants to part with it, I will probably buy it for a tidy sum. I am an avid Who collector as are many of my customers.

I do own a Tommy, Happy Jack and Tommy 45 rpm box set
promos. It took 22 years to find those. Tommy falls under one
of those top ten you drag out in a fire - Oh - I meant after
my wife.
