CHARLIEBOY

LIVE AT LEEDS was manufactured to look like a then common bootleg record album. Boots at the time were generally white labels with no info issued in a plain cardboard sleeve with the title and perhaps some data rubber-stamped onto the front. LEEDS has a white label with the handwritten print, issued in a plain sleeve with title sorta stamped on it. The inside sleeve has pockets holding various photocopies of contracts and other documents along with some photos. Nice package. Not rare but not easy to find with all of the inserts. $30-50 if complete sounds reasonable. $15-20 for the record without the goodies.

Hope this helps!

Nitro- I was thinking the samr thing at first.

Neal- Thanks! I did really well. I was happy as this was in a damn consignment store. I had it my hand and was looking a some other records I bought. They were in a dollar bin. The owner saw me in the dollar bin so when I paid all the records were a dollar each. I got some good stuff. To much to name but these come to mind.

Is this a stock copy, or a test pressing?

Not a test pressing. US copies on Decca had similar white labels.

How were the labels marked on test pressings? Or did they even differentiate the tests from stock? It would have looked silly for a pseudo-bootleg label to be marked 'For Promotion Only'!

DAGWOOD

Test pressings in the UD were generally done by small companies that could press small quantities of records under contract to a major. They had white labels with info and blank spaces or lines printed in black. The pertinent data could be hand-written or typed into a templete of the label and that was what made it to the record. Test pressings did not say "Promotional" or any such thing.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Neal, I wasn't aware of that. I suppose my question then, would be about the specific promo labels for US copies of Live at Leeds. That may be a question for another thread, so I can't be accused of stealing charlieboy's thunder with this record of his that I'm drooling over. (insert salivating 'smiley' face)

Very nice. I've got a similar release with the inserts on Decca label. Great record!
