didn't see this covered in this other ones.....btw, is this a new forum??? nice to see the newcomer stuff separated....should be easier for people to find

anyways, my collection is in alphabetical order

with a normal name, i believe its correct to sort them last name, first name

example....Elton John logged with the J's

what about Charlie Daniels Band or Steve Miller Band, etc

i'm finding that i have logged them using different methods and i need to establish one way......either way is fine, just curious how others view this

would Steve Miller Band go in the S's or M's

I usually go with the last name of the person. Steve Miller Band would be 'M',and Chaarlie Daniels Band would be 'D'. Little River Band would be under 'L'.

Yeah, it can get confusing.

"Alice Cooper" was a band name when they released Love it to Death and Billion Dollar Babies but the Furnier took the name for his own when he went solo with Welcome to my Nightmare. So do you keep the Alice Cooper (band) under "A" and Alice Cooper (Furnier) under "C"? Well, I keep them all under "C." I go with Sid's method. Just don't put Jethro Tull under "T." Wink

Hey I can post a quick reply and I'm not logged in.

Either way works fine as long as you are consistent. For me Jethro Tull belongs under "J", Alice Cooper under "C", Steve Miller Band under "M".

Sensational Alex Harvey Band is under "S" which is where I also include "Alex Harvey ~ Soldier on the Wall" which would normally be under "H" but I choose to file under "S" with most of the other SAHB discs.

It does get a little confusing but as long as we each know our own system then all is good.

hmmmph...so be it. Vinyl records are just a passing fad anyway. As soon as the RIAA sorts out the digital downloading issues CDs are gonna make a big come back and then you guys will be sorry.

I have almost always alphabetized by last name with those bands, Jimi Hendrix Experience is under H, Steve Miller Band is under M, etc. The reason I say "almost" is because, just this weekend, I was trying to figure out why I've always had J. Geils Band in the J's! They will be moved to the G's. Very Happy

You're right, I'm going to alphabetize them all under "T" for Trash.
