Not a huge doo wop fan, but do enjoy some. Here's a couple of West Texas faves...

Elgins is rare, but has seen a drop in value over the past 10 years from lower 4 figures down to around $250. The Mirrors was pretty much an unknown until a small stash was discovered last year in Houston.

It all depends on the song. Some of it is very good, though some is also very draggy and bland.

He also has a weekly radio show on Saturdays at 4pm pacific time. Here's the link:

On the left side you'll see links for two streams. Pick the one that fits your connection and you should be listening to him live. If you have trouble then just find "Brian Lee" under personalities at KVMR.

One of my favourite groups is THE FIVE KEYS

They strated recording for ALLADIN and laterfor CAPIToL

I came accross one of their UK 45's in a charity shop a few years ago - up to that time they were unknown to me AFTER ?

I bought anything I could

Heer is Marv Goldberg's notes on the group

Lately I've been finding more group (and 50s stuff in general) records quite a lot and it's helping me understand a lot of the releases outside of the Top 40 "norm". I started liking the genre when "American Graffiti" came out in the early 70s ("I Only Have Eyes For You" by The Flamingos became a quick favorite) and for the last 20 years I've been using the criterium of "look for anything with a group name" in my record searches. Most of the times, ...it works!

Yes Wand the music only lives when a later generation " discovers " it .American Graffiti was very important from that point of view

m,y youngets brother ( 12 years younger ) went WOW when he heard the soundtrack of that film......

Thought you might like to see a UK pressing of " only have eyes ".which is VERY RARE here in the UK
