Earlier this week on one of the threads somewhere T-Bone asked me what I had bought at the record fair in LEAMINGTON SPA that I went to last Saturday

I have at last got around to scanning them............so here is the first one by the FIVE KEYS

......on UK CAPITOL

WISDOM OF A FOOL

It is hard to explain to non UK residents just how unusual it is to come across a UK copy of a record like that

the 5 keys are one of my fav r&b groups, they recorded fine records into the early 60s. rudy west has to be one of the greatest lead singers, along with tony williams & clyde mcphatter. in the early 80s i bought a radio station library & they had almost all of the capital 45s in unplayed condition, even the rare one," the gypsy" [unfortunately it's a promo copy, does anyone have a stock copy of this?]. sticking to my policy of only keeping the records i truly like i kept all of them.

thanks for taking the time to post these recordfan, i looked thru them 3 times, love those old original labels. in the case of the non-promo ones did you ever wonder who bought these & what the circumstances were? did some cool teenage guy let his girl out of his 55 chevy & drive around the block to pick her up when she came out of the record store from spending her babysitting money on a record? 45s cost 98 cents in the 50s & the standard baby sitting rate was 25 cents a hour. --- 4 hours=1 record
