So you've got some vinyl records and you want to know what they're worth? Here are a few helpful hints for searching the web.

1) eBay - http://www.ebay.com/

A quick search on eBay will give you the most accurate current market value for your item. If you are a registered member you can also do a "completed listing" search. This will give you the final sale price of your item or, if it didn't sell, the asking price for the item for the past 30 days.

2) popsike - http://www.popsike.com/

Popsike is a website that archives record auction results. Many auction results are older and do not necessarily reflect current market value.

3)Allmusic - http://www.allmusic.com/

A website that gives you biographical info on artists as well as a discography of their works.

3) Google, Yahoo!, Amazon, etc.

Although results will vary, a basic keyword search on your favorite search engine can reveal an abundance of information about your item and/or artist.

4) The Record Collector's Guild

Yes, we have a search function. There is a great deal of valuable information within the pages of this site. Just go to the top of the page and click the "search" link. There's a good possibility that the info you're looking for is already here.

5) And, finally, if you're unable to find the info you're looking for, don't hesitate to ask a question here in the FAQ section.

Welcome to the RCG!!!

When asking about your item(s), please give at least the basic release details: record label, country of issue, catalog no., record title(s) and name of artist(s). A short description of the record label's design is also helpful, especially with the more collectible artists.

They determine the specifics of where and when your record was pressed. For a specific title, ask in the "Questions and Answers" forum.

For general meaning i.e. record company, read thru the "Matrix Numbers" forum. If the label you're looking isn't there, start a new thread.

I have a number of lp albums eg Selections from The Theatre Guild Musical Play Oklahoma! featuring members of the original new york proudction Copyright 1943 Decca Records Decca Album No. A-359 *23M Personality Series with the Program..both in excellent condition...Woddy Herman and his woodchoppers Columbia album set A39, Al Jolson, Jeanette MacDonald to name a few.

I also have single lp records...where do I start to find out the value of these? I tried searching EB and nothing came up.

Any help would be appreciated.

With the exception(s) of the very few, who genuinely LOVE the music, LOVE the times, LOVE the vinyl, you think that the real "value" is in the $ worth of the item(s) and it has been the ruke time and time again!
MOST of you have DESTROYED the memory of The Hollywood Phantom!
No wonder he melted down what we estimate now to have been about 25,000 records..
