Found an interesting one yesterday: "Tough Chick" by The Rockbusters on the Cadence label....
Osborne might have missed it, but see Billboard's 26 Oct 1959 review. The published review would argue against it being a promo-only issue.

I mentioned this one before, "Safari" by Ward Darby and the Raves. Here's the link to give it a listen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5FFs0EUyI4&feature=related

There was some good weather yesterday for cleaning and playing records. Played a single by the Champs, "The Tequila Twist", it's a more uptempo version of "Tequila", good tune, though I prefer the original version.

I just picked up a couple of 45's. One is "Penetration" by the Pyramids. Though I already had it on CD, I've been hunting for it on vinyl for some time. The other one is "Boss" by the Rumblers. A friend recommended it and I was able to give it a listen on a phonograph at the thrift. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VsDEw4O9J8I --- unfortunately my copy doesn't have the picture sleeve.

I didn't know that Chuck Berry did any instrumentals, but there it was yesterday on a local oldies show, "Mad Lad".

Here it is on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMb1kiiS6V0

The Chucker has recorded a fair number of instrumentals during the course of his long career. most of them (if not all) were "B" sides and LP cuts, which would have generally precluded them from radio play at the time they were released.

I picked up these two the other week, "Jupiter C" by Pat and the Satellites, on 45, Atco, and "Surfing" by the Ventures, LP, Dolton.

"Jupiter C" is good, but it has noticeable surface noise. Though, the noise does get drowned out when the band cranks up the volume.

The Ventures LP is not bad, but I expected it to be better.
