I didn't know that Chuck Berry did any instrumentals, but there it was yesterday on a local oldies show, "Mad Lad".

Abit late in relying to this one......

I first came across MAS LAD on a budget LP by CHUCK issued in the SXTIES......on an album I bought at the time

Came across it on a US CHESS 45 in the NINETESS .....there were several copies but all had sound problems........EVENTUALLY I came across the UK release on LONDON........which must have sold quite poorley.....as it is the onl copy I have ever seen

I enjoy that track though

Lamas, maybe late, but I am glad to see you back posting. Take good care of yourself and keep spinning the instros!

"Road Block" by Santo & Johnny, this is quite different from their "Sleepwalk" type style, a very good rocker! It's one of those short tunes, only about a minute and a half long, so leaving you wanting more!

I wish Lamas was still with us. As I recall, he was a fan of this duo.

I mentioned this a while back, "Latin Soul" by the Original Surfaris, but couldn't find a link on it. So while listening to it during the weekend, I thought I'd have another go and did find this, though it's only a 30 second bite. It's number 15 on the track list. http://www.allmusic.com/album/the-birth-of-surf-mw0000476879

I taped this instrumental with my VCR from ThisTV. It's the title tune from "It's A Bikini World", by Bob Summers. Unfortunately, the VCR is only a 4 head one and not hi-fi, but at least I'll have a copy to transfer.

Here's Summers' tune: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTQAF4aoBpM

and here's a nice cover by the Boardwalkers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2YH7UEmTp24

Here's another version by The Unclaimed, though the video and sound could be better. It has a little more of a garage sound. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5oqZYlXEuJQ&list=RD5oqZYlXEuJQ

Ewington,

I was lucky to pick that up on a compilation by a budget label, Design or Crown. One great instrumental!

Here's one by Santo & Johnny, a little different from their usual style. I picked up their album for just this one track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVub01ISH7o
