We have a question about alternative to EBay. That might make a good thread or sticky or something. We have resident experts on GEMM and Heritage Auctions etc. and that's good information even for the "Just listen" people. Everyone becomes a seller eventually. (Take my word.)

You already mentioned GEMM, and I know that Discogs has a selling section (but TBH I have no experience with buying from either site).

RYM and Soundtrack Collectors also allow users to list albums for sale. The only places I've ever bought vinyl online are eBay and Collectables (oldies.com).

I did learn the hard way one time to make sure the sellers know how to properly ship things. One time I bought a 78 on eBay and it arrived in pieces. It was placed between two thick pieces of cardboard with shipping tape to keep them together, all inside a thin cardboard envelope. There were no "fragile" notices on the package and they didn't get insurance, so I ended up being out a 78 when it arrived in pieces. The seller did refund my money, but I wasn't too happy.

78s are hard to ship, but that's obviously not the way.

Ouch!

I have purchased from GEMM stores. In fact, I recently SCORED IT BIG with a UK seller and it was a breezy good sale. WOOHOO!

I know of many vinyl oriented forums where mass amounts of rare vinyl gets sold but there is no way I would tell you people where they are.

It is already hard enough to snag stuff in their forum marketplace. You are on your own when it comes to crate digging or purveying platters.

This isn't a team sport after all. Sorry.
