FINAL SCORE is on the TV as I write this

It is the name of the programe that the BBC put on as the afternoon Football ( soccer ) scores come in

It is looking like being a classic season

We have got used here in England for the same four teams to finish in the top 4 places in the PREMIER LEAGUE

These are the teams that qualify for the Champions league .t becuase of that hey earn the most money and becuase of that they can afford to spend the most on wages so they have the best players and the biggest squads

But this yearr something has gone wrong (lol)

The top 4 last year were MANCHESTER UNITED LIVERPOOL CHELSEA and ARSENAL

CHELSEA and ARSSENAL are LONDON clubs

This afternoon Liverpool and have just lost away to the BOTTOM club PORTSMOUTH
2 - 0

They are now way off the pace and look unlikely to finish in the top 4

Manchester United were also away at FULHAM ( another LONDON CLUB ) .MANCHESTER UNITED managed to loose 3 - 0 and have now lost FIVE times this season .They are the reigning champions and now lie second ONLY two poinys ahead of ASTON VILLA ( a BIRMINGHAM CLUB ) who beat STOKE CITY 1.- 0 at home

TOTTENHAM HOTSPURS ( yet ANOTHER LONDON CLUB ) won e away to BLACKBURN ROVERS 0 - 2 and are just behind ASTON VILLA in fourth place

MANCHESTER CITY who have Arab millions behind them ar e also in the running for the fourth spot ( and thus the Champions league ) .they have been the draw speciallists of the league.they beat SUNDERLAND 4 - 3 ...BUT it is rumoured as I write this that MARK HUGHES the manager is to be repalced later tonigh even though his team have only lost twice

The top team CHELSEA play tomorrow and ARSENAL fifth play later today

ARSEBNAL have todays game and one other in hand

You get 3 opoints for a win one for a draw

NEWER

CHELTENHAMS game against BURTON ALBION was postponened

This is why I like to follow the German league instead of the Premier League.

There is niothing to stop someone writing about that league or for that matter any other league on this thread

In fact it would make the thread more interesting

i look forward to reading about the German league

not many people know that Arsenal were promoted to the old first didvision in 1919 in unusual circumstances

The first world war had just finished and Arseneal had finished ( from memory) fifth the last season before the war started

So why did they get promotion whenn only the top two went up ?

Bear in mind they have been in the TOP FLIGHT ever since

ALL is revealed......... http://www.emiratesstadium.info/serv01.htm

You could make a TV movie out of that

::: You could MAKE A MOVIE

about my Team ATLAS FC (Guadalajara's Atlas)...FIRST AND ONLY CHAMPIONSHIP was back in 1951!!!

we share the city and stadium with Guadalajara's Goats, who held the title of the most champioships won in entire Mexican Football history (11) and we hate their guts. Civil war everytime they met. And I mean it. They can't stop saying they're the best, we don't get tired of say "we don't care" .I mean, generatiosn of followers had die in the waiting of see the Team Champion Again...jalisco Stadium can be filled up easily each 15 days (55 000 people) but players, managers or team owners don't give a sh*t...even though we have the most beautiful jersey in the entire Mexican Football.

The closer that my generation was to CHampionship, we lost the final Match in Penalties Series. 10 years ago....that's a damn good script for a football (soccer) movie.

Thanks for that aravel

I work in Birmingham England and the City has two teams ASTON VILLA and BIRMINGHAM CITY and the rivalry sounds just the same as you describe

VERY INTENSE............. .but as is common in England they have seperate grounds

There are lots of fans of the one club that would just NOT SET FOOT in the ground of their rival..and this is the main reason why grounds are not shared...............the feelings are so strong

Amongst workmates it can get quite " unpleasant "

I looked up your team on google and have posted a WIKI link so that a bit more can be read about you team

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F.C._Atlas

Anyone else got a club they want to write about ?

This is all very interesting Lamas but you neglect to tell us where you allegiances lie?

I have just listened to the podcast of the 606 phone in and am absolutely disgusted with the treatment of Mark Hughes.

On the premiership note it looks like Chelsea will grind it out this season playing their boring football and basically wearing down the opposition.

I used to like watching the German League as I find it very similar in tempo to the Prem League in England.

I listened to the first half hour of that live

lots of MISERABLE scoucers bewailing their lot ( they like a moan ) and MANC CITY fans ALL saying how disgusting it was to get rid of SPARKY ( Hyghes

He has made a statement today ( via the League Managers Association ) the gist of which is that he was NOT told he was leaving until AFTER the match .and that he was on track to hit the the agreed target they had at the start of the season

The feeling is that HUGHES will get another job soon enough

The reason I did not mention where my alligences lie is because it is as relevant to the Premier League as supporting Cheltenham Town is

I will give you a cluie Newer

I was born in LEEDS

So whilst this season is going well.....I may have to wait a year or two for life in the big time to return
