One of the things I REALLY love about looking back in the charts 55 years ago..........is the records you come across that you have never ever heard before

Like brand new releases from your favourite era

Like this one by the CLOVERS.........I have just played it THREE times in a row ( lol0

The Clovers recorded that tune on March 29, 1956, it was released that May. "Love, Love, Love" was the last hit for The Clovers On the Atlantic Label.

Here's where we come back to the charts, in all this...LOL..."Love, Love, Love" got to #4 on the R&B Charts, here in the states. it was the first Clovers Release to make the pop charts as well. it got up to #30 on the pop charts. the major cover version of this song also made it to #30. it was by The Diamonds (the group that had a huge hit with another cover, "Little Darlin'", Originally by Maurice Williams' Group, The Gladiolas).

Thanks for that info Rooster...

I went to a fair today ( Sunday ) .........and picked up a US RED / BLACK ATLANTIC copy of LOVE LOVE LOVE...I actually had TWO copies to choose from ( lol)

I bought several other 45s......... all UK or US pressings...except ONE.....which was an Italian LONDON release complete with it's correct sleeve

It was taken from the JAMIE catalogue and was sung by SANFORD CLARK

PLEDGING MY LOVE / GO ON HOME

CAT LOG No 45 - HL - 9095

Quite interesting because that is almost EXACTLY the same as for the UK issue whiich was

45 - HLW - 9095

" W " being used by UK DECCA on their UK LONDON label to denote JAMIE / GUYDEN recordings ...it was what was reffred to by UK DECCA as the EXPORT availability code

There was a song in a similar vein by Thurstan Harris, "Purple Stew", very good. I've seen it listed as 1958 on the Alladin and Quality labels, but I picked it up on an Okeh WLP.

Hi Riding..I enjoyed hearing that

Allladin records were issued in the UK on VOGUE...... a very collectable label in its own right

..........so I looked up to see if it got a UK release.....it did....

Value ??

Wow! I don't know the worth of the US copy, but with my copy, unfortunately the flip side is only in G condition, fortunately, Purple Stew is VG.

just a bit of info on "Purple Stew"...

“Purple Stew”, a record credited to Thurston Harris, is in actuality, Rufus Hunter And The Masters, released originally on Los Angeles's Aladdin label.

Correction: my copy is a WLP on the Alladin label. Sorry, I was thinking of another record that is on Okeh.
