Is anyone else out there as fanatical about jingles & spots on record as I am? I got hooked back in the mid-80s when a friend of mine made a mix tape and included some old commercials in between song segments...I started looking for my own "spot" records to share with him in return. If you have any local or regional favorites to share, I'd love to see them.

no great shakes in the jingle scene, but i've run across 2 or 3 drive-in flick promo spots (on 7").
Usually late 60s/early 70s horror/action/etc weird flick on an equally obscure label.
I have no clean specimens anymore, & when i see one now its always hammered (thrift/flea/etc) Mad

"I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing, In Perfect Harmony".... yeah right- had that 45 (who didn't),
but for an internationally cool jingle gimme Bon, Angus & Malcolm's take on Coca~Cola...
I wish that was not a jingle but a 10-min rockout... Sad

I don't know who did it, probably a session group, but the jingle for the original Poloroid Swinger camera was a good one. I still remember the lyrics!

I've got literally a handful of commercials that I've found over the years. I rarely find any. When I do, unless they are completely trashed, I get 'em because I think they're cool to have, plus I feel like they need to be saved somehow.

Don't really have any rock and roll era types of commercials. I've got a couple that I can't find right now for JFG tea that I think date from the early 60s. That's the kind of stuff I've found.

Here are a couple of pics of others I lucked into. One is a Sears commercial entitled "Stampede" (no relation to the Buffalo Springfield, I'm sure). Haven't played it yet, but I reckon it dates from the late 50s or early 60s. The disc is a weird size, like 8 or 9 inches.

The other is a radio station's commercial for Mayo's sausage. The other side has a different announcer, but probably the same commercial. Again, haven't played this one yet.

I have a little over 150 of these on 7, 10, and 12" vinyl of which I have a little over 60 of those drive-in ones you mentioned above. ie. Serpico, Diamonds are forever, The Baby Sitter, Towering Inferno, Tidal Wave, Charly, Happy Hooker goes to Washington, Fantastic Voyage, Death Wish, Daughters of Satan.

I have over 40 Stan Freberg Lps and 7" of his commercials.

And various others for things like Western Airlines, Bendix, And Coca Cola.

And if you include those records where "stars" do plugs for Veterans Day and and charity plugs, then my total gets near 175.

And I have that Roy Orbison Coca Cola "Swings the jingle" Lp with cover

Don't forget Sigue Sigue Sputnik's 1st LP with the commercial breaks between songs.

I've got a number of records with ads and jingles on them.

Here's one of my favorites, on 16" wax. The music varies on the tracks, with some of it in the 'Space Age Pop' vein.
