Well, I dunno what happened to the other listening thread, but I guess a new one will do.

I just got an original Stan Getz on Verve from billypee that I'm pretty stoked about. It features Chick Corea on piano, Ron Carter on bass, and Grady Tate on drums. It's a 1967 relelase produced by Creed Taylor, engineered by Van Gelder, and I recommend it highly. Here's the full poop scoop:

Stan Getz - SWEET RAIN on Verve V6-8693

And then next up is one I found for a quarter while on my spring show tour, as follows:

The Gerald Wilson Orchestra (plays standards and blues) - LIVE AND SWINGING on Pacific Jazz ST-20118

I'm back into the Jazztone, ARS stuff, just because it ain't no place other than there (as much as anything)

J 1244 Listen to the blues with Jimmy Rushing: Pete Johnson (awesome blues pianist) and Basie people. Great sound
ARS G 845 Battle of the saxes with Illinois Jacquet and Flip Phillips with a cast of wonders: Sweets, Oscar Peterson, Herb Ellis, Buddy Rich and more
ARS G444 Giants of jazz: Lester Young, Teddy Wilson, Roy Eldridge and more, Very nice well related solo work all the way though

Barrie, I'll kick in 2 cents...

Just played "Freedom Sound" - Jazz Crusaders on Pacific Jazz (red vinyl, stereo) and finished with " The Jazz Messengers" on Columbia 6-eye - the lp with Nica's Dream.......can't remember the catalog numbers offhand.

Nice to see you here, Martin and John! (aren't those two names part of a country and western song/lyric? I seem to remember hearing Emmylou Harris sing the line Abraham, Martin and John.)

I'm into some ECM's today.

Art Lande - RUBISA PATROL on ECM 1081
Steve Tibbetts - SAFE JOURNEY on ECM 25002-1
Steve Tibbetts - EXPLODED VIEW on ECM 1335
John Abercrombie - CURRENT EVENTS on ECM 25044-1

and then I'll do some Bill Bruford - ONE OF A KIND and then Allan Holdsworth - SAND.

WOOHOO!

The Illinois Jaquette lead to Jazz at the Phil. I've got the original 10" on Stinson as well as the Clefs so I can do that a while. Lots of fun.
