I may have a 'winner'! - Pink Floyd's "Time"
It's on one of those Capitol 'Jukebox Only' '90's issues;
they not only hacked out David Gilmour's iconic solo, but then add insult to injury by grafting on the 2-note beginning of the song to the ending for about 30 seconds.
Just plain bizarre.

I've still gotta say that "Detroit Rock City" from Kiss should be in the Top 5....sloppy edits to the point that it doesn't even seem to be the same song....oh, and let's not forget the edits of Edgar Winter's "Frankenstein" and Uriah Heep's "Stealin'"...they definitely deserved honorable mentions.

Gotta nod at "Frankenstein" - I don't hear the full-length version very often but it is real obvious what's missing. Stranger still is the quadrophonic mix of the song - okay, so it's like listening to stereo on a monophonic phonograph but on a stereo player the quad tracks have slightly different instrumentation. It sounds like a completely different take.

A little late to the discussion, but the promo 45 of John Lennon's "#9 Dream" is stripped down under three minutes. The retail 45 and LP version runs close to five minutes.

'Zoom Club' by the very wonderful Budgie was butchered down from 9:49 on the 'In for the Kill album', to 3:20 when released as a single, completely missing the very long build up/intro and long instrumental. Very hard to see how they thought it would have been a suitable single to release at the time Confused

I'm a lil late here,but my vote for worst single hack job goes to Life's been good,by Joe Walsh. Horrible,they really cut a lot of the voxbox solo out.
