I assume that you are talking about the The multi coulored sleeve

That sleeve is one used by EMI for the UK COLUMBIA label .and goes with a GREEN label 45

It was used from about 1959 until about 1961 / 62 .......If you look very carefuly at the bottom left corner of the left hand picture you can make out the MAGIC NOTES Columbia Trade mark

As for solid centres versus push out centres.at the start of the 1960's it was very unusual to see solid centres but later on they became more common

I can not be exact but I have always assumed that it was a money saving matter...........possibly the record went through one less process

May I ask which country you live in ?
