    As we have two threads posting mainly American beauties, I felt, that's the right time to start a counterpart to this superiority

    I'll start with two arty excerpts of a bunch of albums I got today from our Egyptian member Hany. Not that she's a real cutie only, no! These four recordings I received are loaded with great folk-orientated pop.

    So I'll put a spell on you and hope you'll enjoy a French artist. May I introduce to all of you Mrs. Marie Laforęt (born: Maďténa Marie Brigitte Doumenach, on 5 October 1939).
    While I'm writing this I listen to her version of Robert Allen Zimmerman's 'Blowin' In the Wind'.

    Thanks for your feedback, please let me make a notice first. This shouldn't be my private thread, every contribution with consideration to the headline is welcomed.

      @Shady: Here's something new for you mate.

        'Ella, elle l'a' [Ella, she has it] - France Gall (DE WEA single 248 287-7, 1987)
          This song's a tribute to the great 'Lady of Jazz' Ella Fitzgerald, written by 'Michel Berger', a French singer/songwriter and husband of France Gall

      I hope you'll like it Wink

    Thanks for the feedback first!

    @Moser:
      Miluška obviously is a Chzech beauty, very nice. Thanks for sharing. I would appreciate, if you could provide more details. As far as I could see, this recording is on the Supraphon label.

    I have tried to upload one more 'beauty', but there's an issue avoiding me from doing so! Sorry . Sad . Evil or Very Mad

Back cover;

Fairly scarce 1972 LP by Czech singer Miluška Voborníková. This is her first LP and as far as I know she only released one other LP around 1976. She released a dozen or so singles for Supraphon as well. She is not nearly as famous as Vondráčková, Pilarová or Zagorová. I've not listened to this LP in awhile but as I recall it is a good mix of pop, jazzy tunes and one or two heavier numbers. I will spin it again shortly and provide more details.

    Thanks for the details, seems to be an interesting find, the only artist I know of your enumeration is Eva Pilarová, I have three of her 7-inch singles from end '60s to early 70s. If I recall it right, they're fairly much Czech folk orientated pop.

    I have a few recordings on the 'Supraphon' label, LPs as well as 7-inch singles and E.P.s, and the most of 'em are really quite interesting keepers.
    To name just a few examples:

    'Judita of Prague' - Judita Čeřovská (CZ Supraphon album - 64 691, 1967)
      a fascinating collection of Chanson covers sung in three different languages, French, German and English

    'Benny Waters & Traditional Jazz Studio' - s/t (CZ Supraphon album 1 15 1966, 1976)
      a phenomenal album by this America artist that has worked in Europe, mainly France for many years. He's one of the most underrated jazz artists here on the 'Guild' unfortunately. Maybe because even in Europe his recordings are more than just scarce?
