I've been looking to buy some CD-RW's -- not data but the kind designated CD-RW Music for stand alone audio recorders.

None of the local stores carry them. Can anyone recommend someone? I've already checked Amazon.

I haven't seen those for years.

I would GOOGLE them.
If they exist on the planet, Google will find them.

Does this mean that you are using such a recorder and therefore must use this type of disc?

If you are using any other type of recorder, then you don't need these - they don't sound 'better' or 'different', they are the same as any other equivalent disc - it's only that a piece of code is embedded in them to allow their use on stand-alone machines.

Yes. I use the RW's to get the correct recording level and then copy them over to CD-R's.

Ridin, if you can't find any for sale, I have a handful of them that I don't use anymore. I used to own a stand-alone but now I transfer records directly to hard drive via Logic 8.

How many do you need?

I own and operate an audio/video transfer service. My (audio) customers bring me their records and tapes for transfer to digital, with the desired end product being a CD they can play in a boombox or their car. The CD-Rs I produce are for the most part trouble free and reliable. The only problems I encounter are with customers with Dodge or Chevy trucks and SUVs. I have one customer with a Dodge truck that does not like CD-R. Mad However, I can burn a CD-RW and it will play perfectly. WTF? It's not an exact science.

Interesting replies! Thanks all!

I've seen the ones on Amazon but was hoping to just get a 5 pack instead of their 10. I figure at the rate I use them up, 10 would likely out last the recorder. So, I'm going to do some more searching and if nothing else comes up, will have to go with Amazon.
