by late 70s the records & record shops were terminated in egypt , as a collector for over 20 years i never felt the experince to buy vinyl from record shops here , this is scene from a 1963 film shoot in a real record shop in cairo, somehow could be considred a document and a view of how a record shop looked like in egypt .

Awesome video.

But, I had no idea that record stores do not exist in modern day Egypt.
That sucks. Crying or Very sad

by 1978 , sono cairo record factory closed and the cassette tapes took the place of records everywhere ...
record shops either switched to cassettes or went to a different busniess

Cool video hany. Thanks for uploading it.

In the video it says "The Alamo" (in English) on the window. Was that the name of the record shop?

Here is a picture of the video of that part...

That's really neat. I also clicked on another video you uploaded and liked what I heard. I'm going to listen more closely when I have time, maybe we can do some trading?

thank you
no, the name of the shop is not the alamo ,
i believe it's a flyer or advert sign for the alamo soundtrack album of 1960
the shop name is written in french and arabic on the glass but sadly i couldn't catch it!

yes, this is really neat, however i doubt if the regular customers looked like the actors in the film.

by the way , the man who appears in the video is a grand composer in the middle east who started as an actor [likely because he was looking good] then drove to music with fulll force , his peak time was from late 60s till late 80s , he is semi retired now
his name is mohamed sultan..
