Just looked at your website.

Very eclectic and obviously a labour of love. Never dreamt I'd ever see Gene Vincent and Suzanne Vega sharing web space. Laughing

Many thanks for the compliments. I'm working (more or less) for nearly 7 years on that site, and I collect records for more than 40 years now. My collection isn't too big (don't ask my love), how couldn't it be diversified; after looking after it for more than half a life?! My attitude - variety makes life more interesting.

I work far too much to add more arty covers this year, I guess, if I've retired, the work will go on more constantly.

Gonna run Smokey Babe on Arhoolie for the 2nd time. The only copy I've ever seen and I paid a whopping 8 bucks! I actually turned down a $70 offer for it before I got it out of the store!!

I used to purchase that series of Chris Strachwitz LPs as they were released. Chris sourced them from his ultra huge 78 collection. I still own all 30 of them, see

You're a lucky man to own those! I've only ran into a couple and they've been wrecked! How's the sound quality on that label?

Chris S, being a perfectionist, wouldn't be content to release an LP unless he'd managed to achieve the best sound possible, given the age of the originals. Same could be said for anything released by late Nick Pearls of Yazoo.

I only have this one, No. 21, I bought this many years back, vinyl is unblemished, like new still and sounds great.

Listening to:

Funky Blues - The Sunset Blues Band

For the uninitiated this is on Liberty's Budget subsidiary, Sunset label (hence, the group's name). It's actually Pee Wee Crayton playing with a bunch of session players. I have no idea who else in the band, but they're pretty tight. It's all covers but one, the Crayton penned "I Got News For You".
