Hi..please..any expert knows if the matris numbers...DT-1-1808 A-11 and DT-2-1808 A-12.
..are correct for a CAPITOL DUOPHONIC STEREO copy from THE BEACH BOYS "SURFIN' SAFARI" first press....?.....I know that the final letters A and B are from first presses for the capitol records fron the 60s...but those letters are for the Duophonic stereo records too..?

Thanks..

The term, "pressing", used in this context, is not a manufacturing term, but refers to the design of the disk labels. Matrix numbers do not ordinarily have any bearing in determining whether a particular copy is a first or subsequent "pressing".

"First pressings" of US Capitol DT 1808 have the black label with multi-color ("rainbow") perimeter, silver print, and Capitol dome logo in pale blue oval, top. Fine print at the bottom of the label states: Mfd. By Capitol Records, Inc. U. S. A.

And also, Duophonic is not true Stereo, it is rechanneled. Which makes this record worth 50% less than a mono copy in the same condition.
