I am thinking about buying an Elvis Sun 223 from a person and he told me that the matrix numbers are

SUN U-156 20 /SUN U-157 20

Has any heard of these being on original pressings. My price guide doesn't list these.

I am meeting the guy tomorrow - so any info that you can give me ASAP about be much appreciated!

Mark

Deadwax information is not typically listed in price guides. The numbers you list correspond with the ones on this sold copy:

thanks - I saw that some on Popsike have sold with those matrix numbers. Smile

Someone also stated on an Elvis Forum that because the center hole is off it must be a fake.. That type of stuff happened all the time at our 12" vinyl pressing plant.. The Label was off center etc.. I have never seen that on a 78 though.. Thoughts??

Yeah, I have no idea about Elvis 78 counterfeits (if there are any); it would seem like quite a feat to replicate anything that looks and feels like an old 78, but I guess anything is possible. That record does look suspiciously nice but, again, I have no clue - there are people around here who do know their Elvis, maybe one will chime in.

I have heard that all the REPRO have a vinyl feel to them vs the feel of a rigid 78. I am suppose to meet him in the morning - so I will have a chance to see and touch it tomorrow. Just a little nervous etc.. want to make sure all checks out etc.. Smile

Correct - I have the Presleyana VI -

That is why I am asking it here - I have seen several sell on Popsike.com with the same matrix numbers that the one I am looking at. I was wondering if anyone else have heard of the one I might purchase.

thanks
Mark
