At this writing, dating guides for Monarch-pressed singles have been online for several years. Maybe it's time to post a guide to Monarch ALBUM Delta numbers.

If we just poke through our own Monarchs, we can probably come up with a good start to a list.

Rusty Warren, Knockers Up; Jubilee JGM-2029 = △ 2653
Rusty Warren, Sin-Sational; Jubilee JGM-2034 = △ 3269
Rusty Warren, Bounces Back; Jubilee JGM-2039 = △ 3873
The 4 Seasons, Sherry; Vee Jay VJLP-1053 = △ 4802
Rusty Warren, In Orbit; Jubilee JGM-2044 = △ 4807
The Beatles, Introducing the Beatles; VJSR-1062 = △ 5689

The Beatles and Frank Ifield, On Stage; VJSR-1085 = △ 6298
The Beatles, Introducing the Beatles (second type); VJLP-1062 = △ 6307
The Beatles, Introducing the Beatles (second type); VJLP-1062 = △ 6313
The Rolling Stones, The Rolling Stones; London LL-3375 = △ 6645
The Beatles, Hear the Beatles Tell All; Vee Jay PRO-202 = △ 7109
The Rolling Stones, 12 x 5; London PS-402 = △ 7164
Don & Alleyne Cole, At the Whiskey a-Go-Go; Tollie T-56001 = △ 7161

The Righteous Brothers, Just Once in My Life; Philles PHLP-4008 = △ 8061
Sonny & Cher, Look at Us; Atco 33-177 = △ 8269
Gary Lewis & the Playboys, Everybody Loves a Clown; Liberty LRP-3428 = △ 8502
Love, Love; Elektra EKS-74001 = △ 8994
The Rolling Stones, The Rolling Stones; London PS-375 = △ 9112
The Doors, the Doors; Elektra EKS-74007 = △ 9991
The Doors, The Doors; Elektra EKL-4007 = △ 10046
The Rolling Stones, Flowers; London LL3509 = △ 10724
The Doors, Strange Days; Elektra EKS-74014 = △ 11050
Procol Harum, Procol Harum; DES-18008 = △ 10890

The Rolling Stones, Some Girls; Rolling Stones COC-39108 = △ 23467
Led Zeppelin, In Through the Out Door; Swan Song SS-16002 = △ 24427

Also, we know that Atlantic signed on to have Monarch press their west-coast albums in November, 1964. What is the lowest Monarch Delta number on an Atlantic/Atco LP? (Based on the Billboard article from 11/21, this may appear on Atco 33-170.)

NOTE: I have also posted this query to the Steve Hoffman forums.

IIRC, Baron Saturday was compiling just such a listing of Monarch LP nos. As I understand it, there are separate series for album and singles, as opposed to (say) US Columbia's (microgroove) which are all numbered in the same series regardless of record size or speed.

It would be helpful to cross-reference with album release dates (month/year), as an aid to determine when later pressings of a particular title occurred. BTW, I have noticed that quite a few of those Hawaiian music LPs which appear to have been marketed to mainland tourists, and eventually wind up in thrift shops, are Monarch pressings.

You're right about those numbers. RCA's numbers (the last 4) restarted every six months, January thru June and July thru December of each year.

I only recently realized the Monarch differences myself, hoping I'd find a reference somewhere to help pinpoint the dating of them. Of late, I've been compiling early Laurie LP's, the 1000 series and the 2000 series. Only one has been a pressing via Monarch (and RCA):

LADYBIRD - Lodi Carr - Laurie LLP 1007 - L80P-6709/6710 (Delta 2727) (>4-60)

I've dated it as sometime after April, 1960, given that it was reported in Billboard then that was when she signed with the Laurie label. It would likely be a May issue date. The liner notes mention that a second lp for Laurie was in the works, but that apparently never happened. In looking around for more information on her, I see she has a Facebook page.

Fred:

Both Sides Now puts the release date in May, which coincides with what you know.

Once we get enough Monarch numbers together, we should be able to correlate them with most typical release dates. That might pin it down more. Was there anything about the original release date on the CD reissue?

Anyway, it's just this sort of thing that I hope the Monarch numbers will do for the LP's -- like they have done for the 45's. From what I gather so far, the master number from your LP does place it in Spring, 1960. Rusty Warren released a bunch of LP's, and the first pressing of Knockers Up was probably in (early?) Spring. More Monarch numbers for Jubilee albums will help pin that down, since some are reviewed in Billboard. I am hoping that more Monarchs will reveal more dates!!

You might want to know that it was my own info that supplied BSN with their dating on the listing.

As you probably know, it was the Dot Records single issues that helped pinpoint Monarch numbers for 45's. It's too bad Dot didn't date their LP's in the same manner.

Fred, based on the RCA custom matrix numbers, it appears that Ladybird was released in June, 1960.

Folks...I am adding official release dates (or first appearance in Billboard dates) to what I have so far.

Sounds good! FWIW, I keep a separate columns in my data base for these dates: some Billboard reviews might lag behind the release date by a month or more.
