Fred:

Columbia XTV 69386/7 has a 1962 date on it. Probably December/January.
XTV 69409/10 came out in February, 1962.
Based on ads in newspapers, the Dutch Boy album, "When They Brought Down the House" (XTV 69449/50) came out in late March or early April, 1962.

Therefore, I believe a proper date for the US release of the Chris Barber album was March, 1962, at the earliest -- but not much later.

This seems to coincide with the Monarch number as well.

I repectfully disagree, Frank. According to my compilation of Laurie LP and Dion releases of the period, the 69XXX series ended by November, where it then went into 8XXXX:

"Somebody Nobody Wants" Dion - Laurie 3101 - ZTSP 68855 (6-61)
"Could Somebody Take My Place Tonight" Dion - Laurie 3101 - ZTSP 68856 (6-61)
"Runaround Sue" Dion - Laurie 3110 - ZTSP 69412 (9-61)
"Runaway Girl" Dion - Laurie 3110 - ZTSP 69413 (9-61)
CHRIS BARBER'S AMERICAN JAZZ BAND Chris Barber - Laurie LLP 1009 - XTV 69464/69465 (Delta 4150) (10-61)
RUNAROUND SUE Dion - Laurie LLP 2009 - XTV 69969/69970 (11-61)
"The Majestic" Dion - Laurie 3115 - ZTSP 81071 (11-61)
"The Wanderer" Dion - Laurie 3115 - ZTSP 81072 (11-61)

The date at the end shows the earliest mention of each record in Billboard, either as a Review or New Release. Only the Chris Barber insertion there is based on my own estimation. Remember that Columbia numbers reflect only the time the recording was mastered, not released. There are a few in my Laurie listing where that does indeed occur.

Here is an earlier string of Columbia masters as an example of that:

"Where Or When" Dion and the Belmonts - Laurie 3044 - ZTSP 62360 (11-59) (from LLP 1002)
"That's My Desire" Dion and the Belmonts - Laurie 3044 - ZTSP 62361 (11-59) (from LLP 1002)
MODERN JAZZ FOR PEOPLE WHO LIKE ORIGINAL MUSIC - Bernard Peiffer - Laurie LLP 1006 - AMY 2357/2358; LAURIE 19271/19272 - (2-60)
"Happy Tune" Carlo and Jimmy - Laurie 3063 - ZTSP 62982 (7-60)
"Rockin' Rocket" Carlo and Jimmy - Laurie 3063 - ZTSP 62983 (7-60)
"Wonderful Girl" Dion and the Belmonts - Laurie 3052 - ZTSP 64392 (4-60) (from LLP 1002)
COLE PORTER'S CAN CAN - Bernard Peiffer - Laurie LLP 1008 - XTV 64449/64450 (3-60)
"When You Wish Upon A Star" Dion and the Belmonts - Laurie 3052 - ZTSP 64477 (4-60)

Note that the Carlo & Jimmy sides were sequencially mastered closer to February, 1961, but the Laurie issue number puts it as a July release. Also note how the Bernard Peiffer lp masters cut into the Dion & the Belmonts release.

Maybe the record was allocated a number in late 1961, but Columbia allocated numbers in batches, and it is clear that some numbers that were assigned prior to LLP-2009 were released in 1962.

Also, the Monarch numbers surrounding that one would tend to assign a date in 1962. Could be Laurie didn't use Monarch to press the album until 1962.
