great question mr monkey, there's enough spread in these so there's no debate which came first. the answer may surprise you, one really predates the other 2.

Correct, Stephen.

I had initially guessed 45 rpm record when watching the game show, but the correct answer is Electric Guitar.

I was thinking 45 RPM first one 1949,I knew transisters were later(maybe 1960`s before that tubes),thinking electric guitars predated 45s.

Not meant to be, and I don't know the answer if it is...
When I read the options I thought it was a trick question because I thought 45's predated rock, but I also thought 45's came out closer to 1945. So when did rock "start" or when was the first release? Again these are questions I have, not ones I'm quizzing anyone on.

Columbia's 7-inch LP (33⅓ rpm single) first 10 releases announced in Billboard, 15 Jan 1949.

RCA Victor's first set of 7-inch 45 rpm singles (and player) announced for Spring 1949 release in Billboard, 8 Jan 1949.

I was waiting for somebody else to answer this question, but since no one has yet to answer I'll give my input.

I don't think anyone can say for sure exactly when rock first started or what the very first rock release was. Even rock music historians and experts don't agree.

Simply put, the start of the rock genre was a music evolution of different music genre components (or elements) put together that led to the rock genre. No one can agree when the first rock song came to being.
