Picked up a copy of the Captain Beyond s/t album last week (UK pressing) - not what i would expect to find on a rainy Sunday at the local car boot sale - purely because i recalled an article about them in RC magazine (and it looked cool).
But, wow, what a great album! has hardly been off the turntable since i got it!
Got me thinking though - what other 'lost' US rock rock stuff from the early 70's should i keep an eye out for, any suggestions? (the more like early Budgie/Sabbath, the better)

Damnation of Adam Blessing, especially Second Damnation. Sufficiently Breathless, Captain Beyond's second album, is also excellent.

That Captain Beyond album kicks some serious ass! Nice grab. Been looking for a copy of that myself for some time now.

Some others you may want to consider in your searches.
Atomic Rooster
Hawkwind - all 70's material
Kossoff - Back Street Crawler
Nektar - all material between 71 - 75
Robin Trower - Bridge of Sighs and Twice Removed From Yesterday
UFO
Uriah Heep - First 6 releases.
Wishbone Ash - Argus

Captain Beyond is awesome. Like the first UFO and all Hawkwind. Wishbone's first several albums are killer as well.

Blue Cheer is great. Granicus and Freedom are also pretty cool.

Thanks for the suggestions all, it was really 'lost' US early 70's rock stuff i was looking into - i have plenty UFO, Hawkwind, Heep etc.. Smile

I found the article again in RC (aug 2011 edition) and besides the Captain Beyond album, it recommends :

The Third Power - Beleive
Power of Zeus - The Gospel According To Zeus
JD Blackfoot - The Ultimate Prophecy
Damnation - The Second Damnation
Sir Lord Baltimore - Kingdom Come
Head Over Heels - Head Over Heels
Dust - Dust
Bang - Bang
Highway Robbery - For Love Or Money
Velvet Turner Group - Velvet Turner Group

Anyone vouch for these albums? worth seeking out?

Blue Cheer, Granicus, Freedom & Kak all sound interesting as well, cheers
