I just posted a new gallery in VinylBeat.com of my favorite vinyl country albums from the mid '50s to the mid '80s. There are also sound clips for each album.

Part 1. http://www.vinylbeat.com/album-73-120FavCountryLPsPt1.html

Part 2. http://www.vinylbeat.com/album-74-120FavCountryLPsPt2.html

Thanks for looking,
JoeG

Looks like some good stuff. I see a ton of country in the thrifts but I am often hesitant to take a chance on something since I might not like it. I have that Jimmie Rodgers - My Rough & Rowdy Ways LP and it is great. Not a fan of Dwight Yoakam?

Hi Chad,

Glad you like it. That's why I included a clip from each album so people can hear a bit of what I like about an album. I like some of Dwight Yoakum's stuff, but I don't find myself pulling out his albums and listening...

Joe

I have quite a few of those and except for a few wouldn't think to pull them. I'd go for something else by the same artist (Waylon from the mid-60s over anything later for example) or wouldn't even look twice. So goes taste and preferences though... everybody has their own. Interesting list, and I'll have to pull some of them out tomorrow while I'm grading papers and give them a spin and see if I'm missing something.

I really enjoyed looking at this gallery of fine Country & Western LPs. I have many of those in the gallery and there's quite a few I've never seen before.

Likely because I'm in NW Wyoming, I've been able to find countless great CW albums while crate digging. I also love listening to earlier work on 78s.
