I am new to the website and trying to find information on a 78 size acetate record.
The record was recorded by “The Paramounts” and the two songs are “Raid” and “Tuff E Nuff”

The record was recorded at the United Sound Systems in Detroit Michigan.
The record is instrumental, and has a northern soul sound, but I am not certain.

By searching on Google with variations of the group name and song titles I found many many different paths.

I have found information about the following:
The Paramounts - white doo wop group from Essex Europe
The Paramounts from the Detroit Ohio area that contained the following J.J Barnes and Richard Knight
A R&B / soul group called Lakeside that recorded a song called “Raid”
A group the Sevilles who were The Paramounts from Compton Cali.
Otis Redding and The Shooters recorded a song in 1960 called “Tuff Enuff”

I cannot confirm any of these to be a match, but hopeful I will get some help from this forum.

It was recorded in Detroit, most likely the Paramounts from Detroit. That's my guess. Acetates are hard to value since there are not that many that go up for sale. No vocals...could be tough to really tell who exactly this is. Nice find !

J.J. Barnes, who was a great soul singer, was indeed from Detroit (Michigan, not Ohio)

I have now recorded the two songs from the Acetate "Raid" and "Tuff E Nuff"
Any help to identify the group or individuals would be greatly appreciated. Email me for the audio clips (I don't know if I can post them in here).

By the way, I searched more variants of the acetate and found some
interesting directions to trek down.

It maybe a 60s garage band. I found loosely some references to the
Deltons, Great Train Robbery, The Guess Who.
The song Raid sounds as though it is from a beack/biker film, they
shout Raid about mid way into the song. (for some reason it sounds
familiar, in a movie like The Ghost of Dragstrip Hollow)

The other side Tuff E Nuff is more of a boogie piano with some
saxaphone mixed in.
