These people sold me a lot of R&B 45s. Most were described as VG+ or VG++.

I actually e-mailed them first to ask them for clarification about their grading. They literally told me that if they can feel a scratch with their fingernail, they don't list the item.

Took a chance. You'd think I would learn.....

A few of these were accurate, or close. Most of them were VG- at best. If they use their fingernail to feel for scratches, they must be bitten down to the nub.

The kicker is...I wrote back a (what I thought was polite) e-mail stating that I didn't think the grading matched up, but since it was subjective, I'd like to return them and I'd pay the postage.

They had the nerve to say they've sold over 100 lots like this with no complaints, so I must be too fussy.

I took a breath, and just replied "Not fussy. Just accurate."

The kicker is they have 100% feedback. I can't believe that I'm the first person to receive overgraded records from these people, and I will defend to anybody that I don't overgrade when I buy something. Is it really possible that the average ebay record buyer is that easygoing with condition?

Seriously, no more.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Here's their total record, which lists 5 negatives and 8 neutrals:

From the looks of how the seller comments on those complaints, I don't think I'd buy from them.

What the...? What is this website?! Yeah, if I had seen those comments, that would've soured the deal for real.

Thanks for the link, hrtshpdbox. Do they list all the bad reviews for all ebayers? The ebay reviews only go back 12 months from what I can tell, and they haven't had a single negative or neutral in that time period.

toolhaus.org is a really helpful site - it goes back to Day 1 for any seller. As with this guy you just had the unfortunate experience with, I think that the way a seller deals with complaints says a lot.

I agree. Whenever the day comes that I tempt fate with ebay again, I will definitely refer back to this site.

Thank again for the link.

I don't think that word means what you think it means.

'Welcome. Don't forget, it's almost impossible for a seller to get a neg these days. In the past, if a seller really treated you wrong, you could just leave a neg - no more. Now you must first contact the seller and see what their response is; if they refund you, you can't leave a negative. Since any seller knows that Ebay's Customer Protection program will simply refund the unhappy buyer and take the money directly from the seller, there's little reason for a seller to not just comply. If Ebay has to force the seller to make the refund, the buyer can still leave a neg. So, with a seller like yours, who knows how many unhappy buyers who otherwise might have left poor feedback have simply been refunded and moved on.

Interesting!!! I have left a couple of negatives over the past couple of years, but in all cases they never refunded my money after I returned the item, so ebay stepped in.

As for this idjit, unless something ugly happens (which hopefully it won't), I won't leave any feedback at all.

Thanks for the info.
